One of the interesting sights in Bilboa: colorful apartments with balcony flowers. We found so many balconies with red geraniums all over northern Spain that we wondered if they were mandated by law.
We happened upon this 180o (MDCCC) community water source on a street in Casco Viejo.
At the suggestion of our Airbnb host in Bilbao we went to nearby (16 miles) Plentzia. Traveling by subway took us through quiet suburban neighborhoods of Bilbao to Plentzia at the end of the line. We were greeted by the then increasingly familiar experience of a small town (4,400) of medieval origin. Founded in 1299, Plentzia still maintains its historical ambience. We walked through charming, narrow, cobblestone streets glistening from the light rain that fell all day. This photo is an example of these streets. Plentzia's location on a bay with a small beach adds to its touristic attraction.
